National Championships 2015 – Hadleigh Farm, Essex
The National champs were hosted at Hadleigh Farm, Essex on the 2012 Olympic course. As I was reining Junior National Champion I was gridded first which really helped with my start. I got a good start and was placed 2nd out of race long group of 4, I then moved down the group into 3rd then 4th, on lap 2 out of 5 there was a crash in front of me which caused a gap to form for 1st and 2nd place, I then had to work hard to close the gap. Once back onto the group I moved to the front to try and control the race, there was then a small crash behind me and I opened up a slight gap, after this gap had formed I started to really put the power down with my Giro shoes and the gap grew greater and greater and I held it to the line to take the win by 31 seconds. This meant that I have become junior National champion for 2 years in a row! So I get to keep my custom Atura National Champs skin suit for the rest of the season.
UEC European Championships 2015 – Chies d’Alpago, Italy
As soon as the National Champs finished I was packing my bags and going straight to Italy to represent GB at the European Champs. After training all week in 35 degrees + and dust, race day came on Saturday morning and it had rained all night and the course was a state. Without the time to change tyres I was still running fast tyres so grip was limited and some of the climbs were impossible to ride and so running was the only option! This is where the grippy Giro shoes came in handy. I was gridded 2nd row and got a great start being 5th into the first corner, I then came into one of the following corners too fast and crashed moving back down to 21st. From here on I had to fight hard to move back through the race, and it was a race long battle to the line where I finally crossed the line in 7th position. Thanks to Altura and Giro for the ongoing support!
